A Calm Space for

Your Animal to Pause, Rest and Be

At Sacred Paws, every session begins with patience. Nikki creates a grounded atmosphere, pays close attention to your animal’s comfort and allows them to guide the pace of the experience.

What Is Animal Reiki?

Reiki is commonly understood as a gentle, intention-led energy practice. In an Animal Reiki session, the focus is not on “doing” something to an animal. Instead, the practitioner, Nikki, becomes calm, present and receptive, offering a peaceful space without force or expectation.

Some animals may choose to lie down nearby. Others may receive from a distance, change position, stretch, yawn or leave, then return. There is no correct reaction. The most important principles are choice, safety and respect.

The Sacred Paws Approach

A calm, grounded presence

Before a session begins, Nikki takes time to ground and become fully present. This creates a quieter atmosphere in which your animal can decide how they would like to engage.

Your animal leads

Nothing is forced. Your companion does not need to be held, restrained or persuaded to remain in one place. Their body language and choices shape the session from beginning to end.

Respect for the whole family

Animals are deeply woven into family life. Sacred Paws treats every companion as an individual and every guardian with kindness, sensitivity and discretion.

When Might a Calm Reiki Session Be Welcomed?

Clients seek Animal Reiki for many personal reasons. It may be chosen simply as a peaceful wellbeing experience, or during a period when an animal and their guardian would value additional calm and compassionate attention.

  • When an animal is settling into a new home or adjusting to a routine change
  • For rescue animals transitioning from a shelter
  • Alongside appropriate veterinary care during periods of recovery or rest
  • For older animals whose families want to create more moments of comfort and connection
  • Before or after travel, grooming, boarding or another unfamiliar experience
  • During end-of-life care, when the priority is dignity, gentleness and loving presence
  • As a regular shared ritual that encourages everyone in the home to connect

A gentle but important distinction
Sacred Paws does not diagnose illness, interpret symptoms or promise medical or behavioural outcomes. Animal Reiki can sit alongside veterinary care, but it must never replace it.

What a Session May Look Like

  • We begin with a brief conversation about your animal, their temperament, routines and any practical considerations
  • Nikki allows time for your animal to notice her presence without being approached or crowded
  • The Reiki offering begins from a respectful distance, with the animal free to choose where they settle
  • Nikki observes quietly and follows the animal’s lead
  • Direct touch is never required and would only be considered if the animal clearly invites it
  • The session closes gradually, without abruptly disturbing an animal who has chosen to rest
  • After the session, there will be time to discuss observations and discuss any queries
Frequently ASked Questions

About Sacred Paws Animal Reiki

Does my animal need to lie still?

No. Your animal is free to move, play, watch, sleep, leave or return. The session is designed around their choices rather than a fixed pose or performance.

Will Nikki touch my animal?

Touch is not necessary for Reiki. A session can be offered from a distance within the room or space. Any closer contact should always be guided by the animal’s comfort and normal safety considerations.

Are services available outside Radlett?

All services provided by Nikki are available in Radlett, Shenley, Elstree and Borehamwood. A small travel fee may apply to appointments more than five miles from Radlett Train Station.

Please contact Sacred Paws before booking to confirm availability, the service area and any applicable travel arrangements.

What if my animal seems uninterested?

That is completely acceptable. Quiet observation, moving away or choosing another room can all be respected. Sacred Paws does not force participation or interpret a lack of visible response as a problem. Animals will receive Reiki energy whatever their location.

Are these veterinary or counselling services?

No. Sacred Paws does not provide veterinary diagnosis or treatment, psychotherapy, bereavement counselling or any such services. Where specialist support is needed, contact an appropriately qualified professional.

How many sessions will my animal need?

There is no universal number. Some guardians choose a single experience; others prefer regular sessions. Sacred Paws will not pressure you into a course or promise a result within a set number of visits.

will I need to complete any documentation?

Yes, there are two forms to complete: a Client Consent Form and a Veterinary Clearance Form.

Can I speak to Nikki before booking?

Yes. Please get in touch with any questions or to arrange a brief introductory conversation before booking. This gives you the opportunity to learn more about Nikki’s approach and decide whether it feels right for you and your animal.
